64: Episode 64 – ethical eating pt 2

Today we continue our discussion on ethical eating. We go into factory farming of chickens, where do our eggs come from? Chicken breeds, veganism, supporting local food producers and much much more. This pair of podcasts is mostly focused around the ethical implications of eating meat and dairy, I hope to produce one focussed on sustainability soon to compliment these

63: Episode 63 – ethical eating part 1

Ethical eating is something that is so important to me. In this episode I wrestle with some of the bigger picture aspects of ethically eating meat and talk about my thoughts regarding processing animals for meat in an ethical way. I also talk about a vegan diet and where our thinking as a species can maybe coalesce around some of the same ideas for the greater good regardless of our personal diet choices.

62: Episode 62 – preserving tomatoes

Tomatoes are one of the earliest crops to offer us the gift of glut! Dealing with gluts is an essential skill for anyone aiming for self sufficiency, as preserving the abundance during times of feast is core to providing for ourselves during times of famine. Today we are talking specifically about tomato gluts and how to preserve excess yields. Tomato harvest season is either here, or just around the corner, depending on where you are and how you grow, and tomatoes make up a huge portion of many modern diets, I don’t know anyone who grows food that doesn’t grow them.

61: Episode 61 – Creating water zones in the garden

From bird baths to wildlife ponds, creating spaces within the garden where we can hold water serves so many functions. Along with encouraging predators that will manage garden pest numbers, it can also creat new growing opportunities. It doesn’t have to be difficult either; anyone can create some water space, whatever your skill level or budget.
